OMAHA, Neb. -

Seven years ago a plane carrying mail from Omaha to Alliance crashed. Now, a civil negligence lawsuit has gone to trial  in eastern Nebraska.

On February 8, 2007 a Cessna plane crashed near the Alliance airport.

The National Transportation Safety Board said the plane was making a second approach to the airport when it apparently clipped a machine shed, hit the ground, and struck a utility pole.

Now, the plaintiff in the case is saying that there were problems with the plane that caused the accident.

A trial is underway currently in Douglas County District Court, and parts of the wreckage are being submitted as evidence

It is expected that this case may last anywhere from three – to – four weeks
