SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. -

Nebraska State Patrol's "100 Days of Summer" initiative has come to a close and officials say they are not satisfied with the outcome.

The initiative began on Memorial Day and ended on Labor Day.

NSP Captain Mike Gaudreault says that those of Scottsbluff's Troop E were not content with the outcome of the campaign for a number of reasons.

"Although we'd like to say that it was successful, regrettably in the panhandle of Nebraska, eight lives were lost due to motor vehicle crashes, so obviously there's tremendous room for improvement," says Gaudreault. "The Nebraska State Patrol won't be satisfied until we can get that number to zero."

Gaudreault says that although Labor Day has passed, they will still work hard to keep Nebraska roads safe.
