Former Gillette fire chief sentenced

A former Campbell County fire chief, who is already serving more than 24 years in prison, will spend an additional 15 years behind bars.

56-year-old Gary Scott was sentenced Thursday in Gillette, Wyoming. He pleaded no contest in September to 14 felony molestation charges.

Scott committed the sex crimes over a 15 year span, mostly against cadets in the Gillette Fire Department's Junior Firefighting Program.

In court Thursday, Scott took responsibility for his crimes. He apologized to his victims, the fire department and the citizens of Gillette.

District Judge John Brooks of Douglas chastised Scott for violating the trust placed with him by the community.
