CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The White House has nominated Christopher A. "Kip" Crofts to serve as U.S. Attorney for Wyoming.

The White House on Monday sent Crofts' name to the U.S. Senate, where his confirmation is pending.

Crofts serves as counsel to Gov. Dave Freudenthal. The governor submitted Crofts' name to the White House earlier this year.

Crofts formerly served in the U.S. Attorney's Office and as director of the state's Division of Criminal Investigation.

U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi of Wyoming called Crofts on Monday to congratulate him.

Enzi says Crofts has extensive and impressive legal experience. He also notes that Crofts served in the U.S. Army.

Enzi says he will do everything he can to move Crofts' nomination forward in the Senate.
