The Nebraska man who fled with his family to the Black Hills earlier this year is sentenced for stealing a Silver City Fire Truck.
Matthew Schade will spend at least three years in prison for grand theft. Last spring, Matthew and his wife Rowena Schade took their children, left Nebraska, and hid in the Black Hills for three weeks.
Schade told 7th circuit Judge Merton Tice they left after hearing rumors that the Nebraska Department of Social Services planned to take their kids.
Matthew's wife, Rowena Schade was sentenced for her role in the theft earlier this month. She received a 6-month suspended jail sentence.
