When it comes to your holiday spending this year, debt–related stress can really dampen your spirits.
According to an Associated Press poll, half the people surveyed said they are suffering from some debt–related stress and 22% said they are feeling it quite a bit. So instead of racking up more credit card debt, financial advisors suggest you offer your time, instead of buying gifts, this holiday season.
"You can give your time, you don't have to give with money, you can let people know things are tight and I want to give in another way this year," said financial advisor Hugh Boyle. "So I'm gonna give you coupons to come clean your house."
To get out of debt, financial advisors say first: you must admit to yourself that you're in debt. Then, work out a plan to pay it off.
