Meade County Commissions file lawsuit

First, they tried to get a restraining order to stop Sturgis from annexing land east of the city.  Now, Meade County Commissioners file a lawsuit.

Circuit Judge Jerome Eckrich ruled Friday that it was within state law for Sturgis to annex 1800 acres of unplatted and agricultural land.  Meade County Commissioners are not happy with the ruling, or the need to keep up the legal fight.

"I favor that annexation, I don't like the fact that we're having this fight with taxpayers paying to fund both sides of the lawsuit," said commissioner Alan Aker.

County Commissioner Alan Aker said the city can ignore the action the commissioners have taken or the city can file a lawsuit to claim the county’s decisions invalid.
