
Paul Thielen, a U.S. marshal serving in Rapid City, has been nominated to become the next U.S. Marshal for South Dakota.
Senator Tim Johnson put Thielen's name forward after the previous nominee, Randy Seiler of Fort Pierre, withdrew to take a promotion in the U.S. Attorney's office.
Thielen has 20 years of service as a U.S. marshal, for a combined 30 years when you include his service with state and local law enforcement agencies.
President Barrack Baa nominates candidates to the U.S. Senate which has to confirm them.
