The H1N1 pandemic hasn't caught KOTA Territory colleges off-guard; they've been planning for it for months.
Students and staff at Black Hills State University were ready when the H1N1 flu started to spread and all the pre-planning has paid off. Before classes started, students were told how to prevent the virus from spreading and how to keep up with classes if they contracted it. And it left them with only one concern: their recovery.
"As soon as I found out I had swine, I emailed my teachers," said freshman Lori Tarver. "They all were really understanding, just told me to get better then deal with whatever I missed."
Students who do get the flu have the option of going home until they recover or isolating themselves from the rest of the students by staying in their dorm room.
