Behavior evidence might be heard in Meade County cattle dispute

Posted:
STURGIS, S.D. (AP) _ A judge is expected to rule in the next few weeks on whether jurors will be allowed to hear evidence of a Meade County man's behavior during the trial of another man accused of shooting at him.
Sixty-three-year-old Albert Munroe Jr. is accused of firing a handgun in the direction of Glen Myers on May 21 after a dispute between the two over wandering cattle escalated. Munroe has pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and faces a mid-December trial.
Authorities say Munroe believed his neighbor had allowed his fences to deteriorate, enabling Myers' cattle to cross onto Munroe's property near Stoneville. Supporters of Munroe say Myers pushed him too far.
Munroe faces up to 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine if convicted.
