One person, one vote. That's what law student Krystal Brunner of Nisland argues Congress is not allowing.
So the Patrick Henry College junior joined four other people to file a federal lawsuit against Congress, claiming the rule of no more than 435 House of Representative seats is antiquated and unconstitutional. Despite the fact that the country's population has tripled in the last 100 years, the number of House representatives has stayed the same.
The five plaintiffs come from states that like South Dakota have only one representative or have congressional districts that are not equal to other states.
The group's idea to fix the problem is simple ... Congress should add more members.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit will now convene a three-judge panel on the issue.
