
A passing train likely sparked 6 grass fires near Ardmore in Fall River County Friday afternoon, according to the South Dakota Wildland Fire Suppression Division.
Units from Hot Springs, Cascade, Minnekahta, Edgemont, Ardmore and Oelrichs Volunteer Fire Departments, Nebraska National Forest, State of South Dakota Wildland Fire, Fall River County Emergency Management, Fall River County Sheriff, and the Fall River County Highway Department responded.
The Duck Creek Fire was contained at an estimated 100 acres at 2:14 pm. The Ardmore Fire was contained at an estimated 20 to 25 acres.
No structures were threatened by amny of the fires, according to SD Wildland Fire.
