Woman accused of inhumane treatment of animals turns herself in

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - The woman who had 75 pets confiscated from her home in Creighton last month turned herself in Friday.

According to the Pennington County Sheriff's Office, Janell Gibson made her initial court appearance Friday morning and posted bond.

Gibson is charged with 33 counts of inhumane treatment of an animal.

Many of the pets were in poor condition when they were taken. They are currently in the care of the Humane Society of the Black Hills and are recovering.
