WAVI holds annual open house to thank community and their partners

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - Working against violence incorporated, or WAVI,held its annual open house Dec. 7, 2017.

The open house gives WAVI an opportunity to thank the community and their partners for the support in the efforts to end domestic violence and sexual assault in Western South Dakota.

People were treated to hot apple cider and other refreshments. They were given tours of the facility and learned more about WAVI and their services. The open house

"The more people that are aware that we are in the public, they know where to go to find that help that they need to get away from a dangerous situation they may be affected by domestic violence or sexual assault." said Kristina Simmons, develop director at WAVI. "So we want them to know that our services are free and we are an equal opportunity provider and do welcome to come in at anytime, we are staffed 24 hours a day."

WAVI is also looking for donations of winter gear like coats and shoes and gloves. Currently they are at 8% of their end of year fundraising campaign Annual Appeal, they are looking to raise $75,000 dollars.
