RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - As the year ended, United Way of the Black Hills edged over its campaign goal, taking in $2,330,687.
The goal of $2,317,000 was surpassed partly in thanks to an anonymous donor who, in the last week of the campaign, matched all donations up to $100,000.
“The match opportunity truly mobilized the community. By the time the final pledges were counted the United Way had not just raised the $210,000 needed to make goal, they exceeded it by $13,687,” Jamie Toennies, United Way executive director, said.
For the past 25 years United Way of the Black Hills successfully met the fundraising goal.
All donations raised during 2017 campaign will be allocated to 55 local non-profit agencies in the spring of 2018. Donations stay in the area where they are raised.
