Train hits person early Tuesday morning in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) An eastbound train hit a pedestrian Tuesday morning in Rapid City.

Rapid City Police confirm the person was walking eastbound on the rail bridge at Pressler Junction when the train came up behind and hit the person.

Pressler Junction is near the intersection of 3rd and Omaha Street.

The engine was stopped on the bridge over Rapid Creek near the New York Street skate park.

Rapid City police were seen near the engine taking multiple photos of the tracks and the train.

According to the police the pedestrian suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The train was released and continued its route after 7 a.m. Tuesday.
