Traffic flow adjustment planned for 5th and Main

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - The traffic flow in downtown Rapid City will soon be changing.

Rapid City Police say the intersection of 5th and Main Street is prone to crashes and is causing driving safety concerns.

That's why the city plans to convert the northbound approach of 5th Street at Main Street to two left turn lanes and two through lanes from the current layout.

It will also remove the parking lane on 5th street going toward the railroad tracks at Nikko Street for a more smooth traffic flow.

The city's traffic engineer expects to make changes this fall.
