SpartanNash announces store closings

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - A number of grocery stores in Rapid City will close before year’s end.

In a statement made by SpartanNash, the parent company of Family Thrift, three Rapid City grocery stores will close in October.

Prairie Market (11 New York St.), Family Thrift Center (855 Omaha St.) and the Family Thrift Express (3464 Sturgis Road) will all shut their doors later this year.

The two remaining stores, Family Thrift Center and Family Thrift Express (1516 E. St. Patrick) and Family Thrift Center (751 Mount View) in Baken Park are being remodeled and will remain open.

According to the statement sent to KOTA Territory News, the approximately 100 employees at the closing stores “will have the opportunity to work at one of the two remodeled stores.”
