INTERIOR, S.D. (KOTA TV) - Starting Aug 28th. 2017, the senior citizen lifetime national park pass is increasing from $10 set in 1994 to $80 today in 2017.

In late 2016, Congress approved the National Park Service Centennial Act. The higher fee will help set up an endowment to help pay for projects and visitor services.

The pass allows access to all of the country's 2,000 national sites and parks and it is a one time processing fee at purchase. There are no annual or monthly fees.

The pass can be purchased at any of the national parks. To qualify for the pass, you must be 62 years old and a citizen of the United States.
