RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - The call from President-elect Donald Trump did not come for Dr. Heather Wilson, the president at the School of Mines and Technology.

Wilson was interviewed for director of national intelligence.

Wilson was interviewed for the top intelligence position in the country last month by the Trump transition team. Wilson, an Air Force Academy graduate and former congresswoman from New Mexico, has a background with the U.S. intelligence community.

Wilson was passed over in favor of former Indiana Senator Dan Coats, whose term just ended. Coats has been highly critical of recent actions by Russia.
