RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - Rapid City Regional Airport had a record breaking 2017. The airport had nearly 600,000 passengers which was a one percent increase over the previous record set in 2010.

Executive Director Patrick Dame attributes some of the passenger numbers to competitors traveling to Rapid City last spring for the International Collegiate Programming Contest, but also to new services.

“We were able to have a great announcement and a great start of Charlotte service this year,” said Dame. “And then, also having American Chicago service going over the winter months.”

The Rapid City Regional Airport recently added a route to Newark, New Jersey which will start in June.
