Rapid City man wanted by law enforcement in custody

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA-TV) - A Rapid City man wanted by the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office is in custody.

Zachary Ryan Moore, 23, is in custody in California pending extradition to Pennington County. A tip from the public led to the capture of Moore in Modesto, California on Thursday. Moore will be returned pending extradition proceedings in California early next week.

Moore is a suspect in a shooting July 23 in Rapid Valley. No one was hurt in the shooting and law enforcement is withholding information about the incident.

Moore was on parole for burglary and has an active felony bench warrant related to a number of charges stemming from a June 4 traffic stop by the Rapid City Police Department. RCPD reportedly found methamphetamine, marijuana, and associated paraphernalia during the stop.

Moore was listed as an absconder from parole on June 23. Five days later a vehicle belonging to Moore was involved in a pursuit with RCPD officers. The vehicle was found crashed and abandoned. The investigation into Moore’s involvement in this matter is ongoing.
