RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - We here in the Black Hills like to think Rapid City is a great place to be for the summer. A recent study confirmed this, naming Rapid City 10th in the nation for the best places to get a summer job.
Rapid City ranked tenth just after Salt Lake City, Utah, which has a population of over two times that of Rapid City. High school students take advantage of these jobs, and so do school teachers, baby boomers, and even international peoples. The abundance of tourism in the Black Hills is what secures these jobs.
"We have wonderful possibility, I noticed on one of the charts I looked at yesterday that we have more 500 and some entry level summer jobs, this is for kids and you know one of the things we've really focused on in Rapid City is work force development and one of the things that the kids really need to know is those soft skills," says Linda Rabe, the president of the Rapid City Chamber of Commerce.
Rapid City summer jobs give kids a chance to learn and adults a chance to earn a few extra bucks over the summer.
