Police don't know what caused Rapid City man's death Thursday

Rapid City police cordoned off Anamosa Street at the Haines Avenue intersection May 31 due to threatening statements a person made.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - Police released the name of a Rapid City man who died during an incident in North Rapid Thursday.

Preliminary autopsy results showed that trauma was not a contributing factor in the death of Gregorio Salas, 41. More testing will be done, including toxicology which will take six to 10 weeks to complete.

Police were called out Thursday when Salas reportedly made threats to harm himself and others on the 300 block of Anamosa Street.

During an attempt to make contact with Salas in an apartment, the joint Pennington County and Rapid City Police Department special response team realized that he had died. No shots had been fired.
