Piedmont man pleads not guilty in Rapid City murder

PIEDMONT, S.D. (KOTA TV) - A Piedmont man accused of shooting a man in a Rapid City driveway on July 2nd and leaving him there overnight pleaded not guilty in Seventh Circuit Court this afternoon.

48-year old Michael Wisecarver is charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault and commission of a felony with a firearm in the shooting of Chad Arnold.

The attempted murder and commission of a felony with firearm charges each carry a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison, while a conviction for the aggravated assault charged could lead to up to 15 years behind bars.

Wisecarver is due back in court for a motion hearing later this month.
He's currently being held in the Pennington County Jail.
