RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - Perhaps some of us wouldn't mind pieing one of our old professors.
School of Mines students had exactly that opportunity Wednesday.
For Pi Day -- the mathematical equation 3.14 is celebrated every March 14th -- Mines celebrated with a pie fundraiser.
Society of Physics students put the fundraiser together with students donating a dollar to watch to watch six different professors get "pied."
In addition, undergrads competed against each other in a pie eating contest, which was won by the same student for the second year in a row.
"It's painful you know. When you distend your stomach that much your body tells you to stop but you keep going and you're kind of on this teetering point of will I vomit or not,” Joseph Petres, pie eating champion, said. “If you can tolerate the pain it's not a hard thing to do. It'll probably be my last time doing it.”
The Society of Physics raised nearly $150.
