RAPID CITY, SD (KOTA-TV) - Now that the warm weather has hit Rapid City, heavy construction will return on Mt. Rushmore Road. Phase 2A and 2B will start next month, impacting the stretch between St. James and Flormann streets.
When the project is finished Mt. Rushmore Rd. will not only have improved driving conditions, but brighter lighting, upgraded signals, and re-constructed sidewalks.
John Van Beek, President of Ferber Engineering, says businesses and community members have really helped the reconstruction project from the beginning.
"The Mt. Rushmore Rd. Group and their activity with the businesses back and forth, encouraging them to have a plan, has really helped with the project to date,” said Van Beek.
The entirety of the Mt. Rushmore Road project is anticipated to be finished in May of 2018.
