KOTA Territory employees are taking the saying "service with a smile" to heart. With tourism a leading driver in South Dakota's economy, nearly 200 business personnel are brushing up on their customer service skills for the summer season.
The group learned about the importance of customer feedback and ways to keep customers and employees happy. Members of Visit Rapid City wanted to stress the importance of being a well-rounded hospitality hub.
"The visitors don't just come to the attractions they come to the hotels, they go to restaurants, they go to gas stations, convenience stores- you name it so we want to make sure they have a great visit no matter where they're stopping," says Stacie Granum with Visit Rapid City.
For one local manager, he doesn't want to take his employees for granted, who deal with customers daily.
"Working and empowering the folks who are in the front lines. Our employees that are working with the guests and taking care of their issues and really just making sure they have everything they need to make the guests trip an excellent one," says Logan Steffens manager of Holiday Inn Rushmore Plaza.
The event has been going on for over 15 years, and Visit Rapid City is excited for the event to continue to grow.
