Man who robbed a gas station last year will spend years behind bars

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) A man who admitted to robbing a Corner Pantry with an airsoft gun this summer was sentenced to 7 years behind bars with 2 years suspended this Thursday, Jan. 5th, 2017.

Jamaul Shangreaux pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting first degree robbery as part of a plea agreement. He was 20 years old at the time of the crime back in June of 2016. Prosecutors say he was under the influence of meth.

Shangreaux addressed the courtroom saying “He did not intend to hurt anyone.”

He originally faced a maximum 25 years behind bars.
