RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - The man responsible for a five-car crash last November in Rapid City has been sentenced to 10 years in the South Dakota State Penitentiary.

The accident happened when 25-year-old, Andrew Chipps, of Wanblee, fled from a South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper who called of his pursuit.

Chipps kept driving, causing the five-car crash near the intersection of Lacrosse and Anamosa.

One vehicle rolled and four people were injured.

In February, Chipps entered a guilty plea to one count of vehicular battery.

In addition to his prison sentence, Chipps was ordered to pay $140,000 in restitution.
