RAPID CITY S.D. (KOTA TV) - It's a competition, but none of these girls will go home empty handed.

Girls from all over South Dakota came to compete locally in Rapid City Saturday.

They all have the same goal, to win the Miss Rapid City crown.

Winning at the local level automatically qualifies them for Miss South Dakota.

Saturday there were 12 girls competing.

All of these contestants ultimately win. They walk away with more self confidence and self worth.

Miss South Dakota said she’s seen her mentees self confidence grow dramatically throughout the program.

It’s about more than just walking away with a crown for these girls.

"Just by winning a crown or even if you win miss congeniality or most community service there are scholarship dollars that girls can use either to further their talents at taking private voice lessons or save money for college,” said Miss south Dakota, Julia Olson.

Scholarship dollars were given for lifestyle and fitness, talent and community service.

Title winners include:
Carrie Wintle, Miss Rushmore
Isable MacLachlan, Miss Rapid City
Amber Hulse, Miss Central States Fair
Alexandria Schoenberner, Miss Once Upon A Festival
