RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - A staple in the flower business closes its doors on Friday. The family-owned Jolly Lane Floral announced on its Facebook page they are closing to focus on other endeavors.
Jolly Lane Floral started 40 years ago when Pam Sykora branched off from her father's Jolly Lane Greenhouse and created the floral store on East North Street.
The store served the community for years and Sykora says closing this chapter is bittersweet.
"We’ve just been doing it for so long, just kind of needed change, kind of little burnt out and just wanted to do something different, wanted to spend time with my family,” Sykora explained. “After 40 years of being on the go and on demand with a lot of responsibility I just kind of wanted a lighter load. It's been a good career and a good run, but it's time to move on."
The Jolly Lane Greenhouse remains open and is still operated by Sykora's brothers: Scott, Tim and Todd Sime. Sykora says she plans on helping them out from time to time throughout the year.
