Interim superintendent named for Meade School District

STURGIS, S.D. (KOTA TV) - An interim superintendent has been named for the Meade School District. John Pedersen was hired Friday morning by the school board.

Pedersen brings over 26 years of experience, serving as superintendent in Harrisburg, Chester, Beresford, Pierre East River and interim superintendent in Custer and New Underwood.

The school board will begin the search for a full time replacement for Don Kirkegaard, who was appointed state secretary of education. Pedersen will serve as interim superintendent from Jan. 1 through June.
