Homebrew competition offers local brewers unique opportunity

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - In honor of National Homebrew Day on May 7th, Lost Cabin Beer Company is calling on all homebrewers to submit their brews for their first ever Homebrew Competition.

Brewers have until have April 30th, to submit their samples. Certified judges from the Beer Judge Certification Program will choose a winner who will be announced on National Homebrew Day. The winner will then go on to mass produce their recipe using the lost cabin facilities with help the co-founders and brewers, Tom Sibernagel and Jesse Scheitler.

"I think every homebrewer is in their garage right now wishing they could play around with some big equipment so we want to kind of highlight some of the local talent that's out there and seeing what everybody's doing in their garages,” said Scheitler. “Tom and myself have a big background with home brewing so from the very beginning we wanted to find a way to give back to the community that has done so much for us and helped grow that homebrew community around Rapid City."

The winner’s recipe will be unveiled at this year’s annual Bierborse at Main Street Square this October. For a complete list of rules for the Lost Cabin Beer Company Homebrew Competition visit http://lostcabin.beer/comp.html.
