RAPID CITY, S.D. ( KOTA TV) Business is good for small shops in downtown rapid city.
"There's a lot of folks that last minute Christmas shop, so we're ready for them and we still have a lot of neat gifts," said Prairie Edge employee Frank Night Pipe.
And holiday shopping has made a big impact on sales.
“A lot of people seem to be looking for unique gifts this year. Something that's not mainstream, something that maybe isn't advertised on television," said Who’s Toy House Owner Some Kingsbury.
Both Prairie Edge and Who's Toy House says that the key to success during the holiday season is to stock up on merchandise.
"We order items ahead of time for the Christmas season, and get it displayed, get it prepared for when the folks come in," said Night Pipe.
With only a few days left until Christmas, local retailers say they'll expect a small surge of last minute shoppers as well.
"It's always challenging this time of year when we have our unique weather, but we're going to end on a high note this year," said Kingsbury.
