RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - Update:
One person has died following a crash Wednesday afternoon on West Omaha Street and Mountain View Road.
At 4:49p.m., the Rapid City Police Department and the Rapid City Fire Department were dispatched to the area of Rapid Creek and West Omaha Street for a report of a vehicle that struck a bridge and was on fire.
The fire department found a single vehicle that had struck the bridge and was upside down on the creek bank.
A victim was still trapped inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
"There were two other vehicles that were involved in a hit and run collision," said Lt. Jim Bussell from the Rapid City Fire Department. "Farther up on west Chicago, the Rapid City Police Department is investigating that they are led to believe that that hit and run crash and this crash are all related."
This is a developing story.
Police received a call at 4:49 p.m. of a vehicle on fire at the corner of W. Omaha St. and Deadwood Ave.
Rapid City Police and Fire Departments both responded. The vehicle was located next to Rapid Creek and was in flames. It appeared the driver was travelling eastbound before running off the road.
One person has been confirmed dead. It is not known at this time if another vehicle was involved.
