Fall commencement ceremonies announced

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - Nearly 200 students will receive their degrees at Black Hills State University’s fall commencement. According to the university, 13 master degrees, 160 bachelor degrees and 24 associate degrees will be presented.

Among those graduating is Kelli Larson, the school’s first graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art. The studio art degree enables students to step into a variety of careers including gallery management, curatorial positions and commercial advertising upon graduation.

The commencement ceremony will be held Dec. 9 starting at 10 a.m. at the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center.

The following weekend, the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology will hold its fall commencement. According to SDSM&T, 188 degrees will be awarded to students at the Dec. 16 ceremony.

The senior address will be given by Brenna Mollet, the tenth member of her family to graduate from SDSM&T. Mollet is an applied and computational mathematics major from Chanhassen, Minnesota.

The commencement ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center theatre and will be livestreamed.
