RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - The six-year court battle over digital billboards in Rapid City is still ongoing.

On Monday morning, the billboard advertising company Lamar was in court stating that they may be getting involved.

Epic Outdoor Advertising has been in a legal battle with Rapid City after the city adopted an ordinance that banned animation and full motion video on billboards. The ordinance came after the billboard company was already using video on their signs.

Now, the advertising company, Lamar, wants to get involved.

A Lawyer for Lamar Advertising says if the Hon. Judge Robert Mandel and the South Dakota Seventh Circuit Court finds the ruling unconstitutional, they would like to intervene in the case. Judge Mandel says the company needs to decide if they will completely intervene, or not enter the case at all.

A decision will be made by Lamar on whether to intervene, or not, by March 30.
