Deadwood History offers genealogy workshop

DEADWOOD, S.D. (KOTA TV) - A genealogy workshop will be held on Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center.

The two-session workshop will be presented by South Dakota State Historical Society Archivist, Virginia Hanson. Hanson has been a professional genealogist for 23 years, but has worked on personal genealogy for over 48 years.

Session one will cover topics such as information to look for, how to organize data, tools to use when conducting searches and setting up research. Session two will take a look at some interesting historical information from South Dakota and offer insight on sources used to find this information.

The workshop is put on by Deadwood History, Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission, Adams-Mastrovich Family Foundation, Bill Haas and the South Dakota State Historical Society.

The cost of the workshop is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
