Bond set at 100K for New Year's murder suspect

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN TV) - The man accused of committing Rapid City’s first homicide of 2017 made his initial court appearance Tuesday where his bond was set at $100,000.

Joseph Rich, 26, is accused of killing 20-year-old Juan Legarda Jr., and injuring two other people at a home in the 300 block of East Adams Street on New Year’s Day.

Prosecutors charged Rich with second degree murder, claiming he stabbed Legarda with a bayonet.

He's also being charged with two counts of aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing and shooting at two other people.
