Airport security concerns rise after Fort Lauderdale shooting

RAPID CITY, S.D. ( KOTA TV) The Fort Lauderdale shooting has brought security concerns to the front-line for travelers.

The Rapid City Regional Airport says they have a safety plan in place in case of an emergency.

Following the incident, many large airports increased security, but travelers say they didn't notice much of a difference. A passenger said she noticed more of a police presence during her layover in Dallas.

Officials at the Rapid City Regional Airport say security is always a top concern.

"We work closely to the Rapid City Police Department and local law enforcement here. We do have a plan in place for the airport and we continuously test that plan to ensure that it is working and working appropriately," said Executive Director Patrick Dame.

There are no immediate plans to increase security at the baggage claim or check-in areas. If you do see suspicious activity at the airport, alert local law enforcement immediately.
