RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - Today's '25 Days of Giving' organization has been providing hope and clothes for families in need...Mommy's Closet.
Mommy's Closet is run by Volunteers of America in Rapid City. It is a crisis resource provider in the community, supplying families in need of clothes, items and diapers for children under 5-years-old.
In 2017 alone, Mommy's Closet distributed 90,000 diapers, and expect to hit 100,000 by the end of the year. They are the only diaper bank west of the river. Because of this, diapers are also the biggest thing they need donated right now, along with a few other items.
"Our biggest need in Mommy's Closet is diapers. Especially size 5 and 6 for our bigger kiddos," said Stacey Rosdahl, Service Coordinator for Mommy's Closet.
"We could use coats, gloves, scarves, mittens, all of the above," said Kelly Folson, Program Director for Volunteers of America.
Rosdahl says they receive a lot of winter clothes donations at this time of the year, so they also need volunteers to help sort through these clothes.
Mommy's closet just moved to a new location on New York Street. They will be having an open house on Dec. 13 at 5 p.m., and invite the public to come by and see their new place.
