25 Days of Giving: Cornerstone Rescue Mission

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - Our "25 Days of Giving" continues with a shelter that is always providing a roof for those who need it.

The Cornerstone Rescue Mission in Rapid City has been helping the homeless since 1982. They serve thousands of people each year by being the main provider of shelter and free meals in the Black Hills Region.

They are able to house 160 people nightly, and feed twice as many, especially this time of the year. While they are always helping others, they too are looking for some help providing certain items for the homeless.

"Backpacks," said Deb Berg, Volunteer Coordinator for Cornerstone Rescue Mission. "We need large, sturdy backpacks. It's something we always need but never get many donated. A homeless person, their backpack is one of the most important things they have. It's what they keep all of their stuff in."

To donate, you can drop off backpacks at the thrift store or call 605-716-2768.
