Viking Drive shooting deemed justified

RAPID CITY S.D. (KOTA TV) - In a review of the police shooting death last month on the 300 block of Viking Drive, Attorney General Marty Jackley released a statement saying Rapid City Officer, Derek Eubel was justified in using lethal force.

This was the scene on June 17 – police were called to the neighborhood for reports of a man firing a gun.

The situation escalated, Joseph Paul Hogan came out of his house threatening officers and taking a shot at them.

That's when officer Eubel returned fire. Hogan of Rapid City– was confirmed dead at the scene.
