Jill Langland is thrilled to call Western South Dakota and KOTA Territory News her new home.
Prior to coming to KOTA, Jill worked as a technical media producer at KSFY in Sioux Falls. She hopes to continue reporting for South Dakota for years to come.
Jill grew up in Mountain Lake, Minn., and is a graduate of University of Sioux Falls. She also spent her freshman year at University of Minnesota, Mankato.
Jill's interest in journalism started when she was young; with her mother and grandfather both being editors of the local newspaper, the Observer/Advocate. Even though she spent two years of her college life denying any liking to journalism, the telling of stories that she enjoyed as a kid came back. She has written several articles for the Observer/Advocate and has worked several summers at the newspaper.
She is the youngest of two and has an older brother, Jon, who lives in Minnesota.
The news never stops, but sometimes journalists get a break. When Jill is not reporting, she enjoys snowboarding, hiking and spending time with her fiance. Her favorite sports teams are the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Wild and of course, the Minnesota Vikings.
Jill is excited to call Rapid City her home. If you have any news stories or something she should know about, send her an e-mail, or connect with her on Twitter and Facebook.
