Amanda Wekesser joined KOTA Territory News in November 2016 as our weekend meteorologist.
As well as forecasting your weather on weekends, Amanda does double duty as a general assignment reporter three days a week.
Amanda began tracking hurricanes when she was 7 years old despite growing up in the Midwest.
Amanda got her start in broadcast as an intern at KLKN TV in Lincoln, Neb. In 2014, she graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology and minors in English, math, and psychology.
Amanda joined the KOTA weather team as the weekend meteorologist in November 2016. She is excited for the challenges of forecasting for the Black Hills.
Prior to moving to Rapid City, she was a meteorologist at KFXL/KHGI in Axtell, Neb. Amanda was KHGI’s first Spanish weather anchor/meteorologist, broadcasting a daily forecast and severe weather updates entirely in Spanish.
Amanda is an avid Husker football fan and a Denver Broncos fan. In her spare time she enjoys swimming, country swing dancing, hiking and watching football.
