Gambling for a good cause

Makenzi Henderson

A Kota Territory organization uses gambling money for a good cause, to help kick off funding for a new foundation.

The Associated General Contractors of South Dakota building chapter gives a more than $4,000 to the new Youth and Family Services Foundation.

The check equals half of the proceeds from the AGC's charity poker run.  AGC chose YFS because the foundation helps fund programs for western South Dakota children.

"The AGC building chapter really feels that it's important to support our communities by helping the youth," said the AGC Chairman of the Board, Neal Schlottman.

"Youth is the future and we feel that at this point in time, there's definitely a need to support the young people in our communities."

AGC will give the other half of the poker run's proceeds to its scholarship fund.
