Police look into nursing home funds

Posted:

Regional Health has called the police to look into what might be embezzlement of funds from residents of Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care.

In a news release today, Regional Health would only say that they suspect "accounting irregularities" at the nursing home.  They notified police and the state Department of Social Services.  Regional Health also says it is "cooperating fully" with local and state investigators.

Spearfish Regional Health CEO Larry Veitz says they are meeting with the residents who they believe are affected by the problem.  "We want to work closely with these individuals and their families to identify any concerns they have and to make restitution, if necessary," Veitz explained.

If residents or family members have questions about resident liability accounts, they can contact Veitz at 644-4091.
