Box Elder City Planners are seeking the public's input on how to improve a stretch of highway known for accidents.
On Tuesday night, the city hosted a public meeting on the Highway 1416 corridor study. The two-mile stretch of road begins at I-90 Exit 63 and runs to Ellsworth Road.
Planners want to improve traffic flow and reduce accidents. One suggestion is to shrink the divider between the east and westbound lanes to make it safer for vehicles crossing the highway.
"That's kind of the driving thing, the public demand for more safety," said Bob Shannon, an engineer who worked on the corridor study. "They're concerned about the buses getting across, their own vehicles, being able to get across the road and reduce the accidents out there."
