This week, the Delta Dental Dakota Smiles Mobile Dental Program provided dental care to its 10,000th child.
The program started with the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. Then, the Delta Dental Smile Mobile also rolled in.
Since 2004, the moving program has traveled to 60 communities across South Dakota. And, volunteers on it have provided $4.3 million worth of dental care to underserved children.
For many families dental care is out of reach. Tooth aches, cavities and missing teeth not only cause children pain, they also prevent them from leading healthy lives.
Thursday, the dental mobile was at the St James Episcopal Church in Belle Fourche.
